The Croatian national volleyball players 2011

The Croatian national women's volleyball team is a selection of the best Croatian players who represent the Hrvatski Odbojkaski Savez Association at international tournaments and internationals. The team was formed in 1991 after the fall of Yugoslavia .

history

World Championship

In 1998, Croatia finished sixth in the only ever participation in a volleyball world championship .

Olympic games

The Croatians took part in the Olympic tournament in Sydney for the first time in 2000 and came in seventh. They could not qualify for Beijing 2008 .

European Championship

When they first took part in the European volleyball championship , the Croatian women narrowly lost the game for fifth place against Germany . Two years later they reached the final against the Netherlands . Also in 1997 and 1999 they were only defeated in the finals against Russia . After a weaker tournament in 2001 (ninth) they could not qualify in 2003. At the EM 2005 they lost the game for seventh place against the former brother state Serbia and Montenegro . At the 2007 tournament it was only 14th place.

World cup

In 1995, as fourth, the Croatians just missed the medal ranks at the World Cup . Four years later they finished eighth.

World Grand Prix

Croatia has not yet played in the World Grand Prix .
