The Finnish men's national volleyball team is a selection of the best Finnish players who represent the Suomen Lentopalloliitto F. Y. association in international tournaments and internationals.
history
World Championship
In 1952, when the Finns first took part in a volleyball world championship , they finished eleventh. In the years 1962 to 1970 it was only enough to rank 18, 19 and 20. The tournaments in 1978 and 1982 Finland finished in 17th place.
Olympic games
Finland has never qualified for the Olympic Games.
European Championship
In the first three participations in European volleyball championships , the Finns finished eleven and fourteen from 1955 to 1963. In 1971 they finished eleventh and in 1977 they did not get past eleventh despite home advantage. In 1981, 1983 and 1991 they were among the top ten teams for the first time. When the EM in 1993 took place again in their own country, they came in ninth. Four years later they reached eleventh place. They achieved their best result in fourth place at the 2007 European Championship .
World cup
The World Cup has so far taken place without Finland.
World league
In 1993 the Finns finished twelfth in the World League . They returned in 2006 in tenth place and rose to seventh place the following year. After a tenth place in 2008, it was seventh again in 2009. After that, the Finns only finished 13th and tenth.
European League
In 2004 the Finns finished sixth in the Europa League . In 2005 they were only defeated in the final against Russia .
