The Hungarian men's national volleyball team is a selection of the best Hungarian players who represent the Magyar Röplabda Szövetség association at international tournaments and matches.

history

World Championship

Hungary took part in the first volleyball world championship in 1949 and finished seventh. In 1952 the Hungarians achieved their best result in fifth. In the next three tournaments, they finished eighth, sixth and seven. In 1966 and 1970 they did not get above the ranks ten and eleven and in 1974 they were missing for the first time. In 1978 they took part again in the World Cup and finished 14th.

Olympic games

Hungary only took part in the first Olympic tournament in Tokyo in 1964 and came in sixth. Hungary could not qualify for Beijing 2008 either.

European Championship

When they first took part in the European volleyball championship , the Hungarians came third in 1950. After finishing seven (1955) and five (1958), they reached the 1963 final against hosts Romania . Then they finished sixth and fifth, before they only reached eleventh place in 1975. Two years later, however, they just missed the medal ranks as fourth. In 1979 they performed slightly worse in eighth place and in 1981 they were absent for the first time in thirty years. With eleventh place they bid farewell to the European Championship for a long time in 1983. After that they could only qualify again in 2001 (ninth place).

World cup

The Hungarians finished seventh in their only World Cup participation in 1965.

World league

Hungary was never involved in the world league .

European League

Hungary also did not play in the Europa League .
