The Yugoslav national volleyball team of women was a selection of the best Yugoslavian players who represented the national volleyball federation of the SFR Yugoslavia in international tournaments and international matches. The Yugoslav women participated in a world championship and several European championships, but did not qualify for the Olympic Games or other tournaments.

From 1993 to 2003 there was the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and from 2003 and 2006 Serbia and Montenegro , both of which were represented by the Serbian-Montenegrin national team . The Serbian national team has been playing since 2006 . The national teams of Bosnia-Herzegovina , Kosovo , Croatia , Montenegro , North Macedonia and Slovenia also emerged from the SFR Yugoslavia .

World championships

The Yugoslav women took part in a world championship for the only time in 1978 in the Soviet Union . They won a group game against the Netherlands , but were eliminated as third in the group.

Olympic games

Until its dissolution in 1993, Yugoslavia did not qualify for the Olympic Games .

European championships

The Yugoslav women took part in a European Championship for the first time in Paris in 1951 and finished third. In 1958 they finished seventh and in 1963 they finished eighth. At the 1971 tournament they did not get past 14th place. At the EM 1975 they were hosts in a preliminary group and a. with the GDR team and the Federal Republican team and retired as third party. In the next three tournaments they finished ninth, ten and eleven. After that they were back in Germany in 1989 and finished eighth. Two years later they came ninth in their last European Championship tournament.
