1958 European Women's Volleyball Championship

The 1958 European Women's Volleyball Championship took place from August 30 to September 11 in Czechoslovakia . The number of participants increased to twelve. It was the first tournament with German participation; Germany was represented by the West German selection and the GDR. The games were played in Prague , Budweis and Liberec . The Soviet Union won the title for the fourth time.

mode

The twelve participants were divided into four groups of three in the preliminary round. The group winners and runners-up were combined into one group in the final round. In the mode “everyone against everyone” they determined the tournament winner. The group third in the preliminary round played for positions nine to twelve.
