1958 European men's volleyball championship

The 1958 European men's volleyball championship took place in Prague from August 30th to September 11th . The number of participants reached a new record with 20 teams. Germany was represented by the Federal Republic and the GDR, which met in the preliminary round. The Czechoslovakia used the home advantage to defend their title.

First there was a preliminary round in which the twenty participants were divided into four groups with five teams each. The two best teams in each group played in the final group "everyone against everyone" for the title. The third and fourth placed in the preliminary round determined the places nine to sixteen in a second group and the remaining teams played from places 17 to 20.
