European women's volleyball championship 1949

The 1949 European Women's Volleyball Championship took place in Prague from September 10th to 18th . Seven teams were involved in the premiere of this competition. The German team was not one of them. The Soviet Union became the first European champions without losing a set.

The seven participants were grouped together and played “everyone against everyone”. The team that finished first in the table was the winner of the tournament.
