The Belgian national volleyball team for men is a selection of the best Belgian players who represent the Fédération Royale Belge de Volleyball in international tournaments and internationals.

history

World Championship

At the first volleyball world championship in 1949 with ten participants, Belgium took penultimate place ahead of neighboring Netherlands. In 1956 the Belgians did not get beyond 17th place and in 1962 they withdrew their team after the preliminary round. After 14th place in 1966, Belgium achieved its best result in 1970 in eighth place. Then it went down from eleventh to 18th in 1978. Belgium did not qualify for a World Cup until 2014 (17th place).

Olympic games

The only Olympic tournament with Belgian participation took place in Mexico in 1968 . Belgium reached eighth place.

European Championship

At the first European volleyball championship , Belgium finished fifth out of six places. Three years later, the Belgians finished sixth, followed by six tournaments with double-digit placements between 10 and 17. After a missed tournament, the Belgians finished eleventh in 1979 and when the 1987 European Championship took place in their own country, they achieved one of their best results in seventh. After that, they had to wait twenty years for the next participation. Belgium finished tenth at the 2007 European Championship .

World cup

The World Cup has so far taken place without Belgium.

World league

Belgium did not play in the world league either.

European League

In 2007 , Belgium finished last of twelve places in the Europa League .
