When it first took part in a European volleyball championship , Greece was the worst of twenty teams in 1967. Four years later, things didn't go much better with 18th place. After two missed tournaments, the Greeks finished last again in 1979, this time among twelve participants. In 1983 (ninth) and 1985 (seventh) there were placements among the top ten for the first time. The results of the four European Championship participations between 1989 and 1997 were similar. After that, the Greeks were missing three times before they celebrated their greatest success in the 2005 tournament in sixth place. At the EM 2007 there was one of the worst results with the 13th place.

World cup

Greece has never been to the World Cup .

World league

In 1993, the Greeks played in the world league for the first time and finished eleventh. After finishing seventh (1994) and nine (1995), they finished eleventh again in 1996. After a year break, the worst result came in twelfth in 1998. In 2001 the Greeks returned to ninth place, which they also achieved in 2002. The next year they climbed to seventh place before they achieved their best result in 2004 when they came fifth. With seventh place, they said goodbye to the world league in 2005.
