The Yugoslav national volleyball team of men was a selection of the best Yugoslav players who represented the national volleyball federation of the SFR Yugoslavia in international tournaments and internationals. The Yugoslavs took part in two World Championships and the 1980 Olympic Games, and twice came third at European Championships.

From 1993 to 2003 there was the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and from 2003 and 2006 Serbia and Montenegro , both of which were represented by the Serbian-Montenegrin national team . The Serbian national team has been playing since 2006 . The national teams of Bosnia-Herzegovina , Kosovo , Croatia , Montenegro , North Macedonia and Slovenia also emerged from the SFR Yugoslavia .

World championships

The Yugoslav men took part in a world championship for the first time in 1956 and finished tenth. In 1962 and 1966 they reached eighth place respectively. At the 1970 tournament they came back to tenth place. It was her last World Cup participation.

Olympic games

Yugoslavia took part in the 1980 Olympic Games for the only time in Moscow . The team won two preliminary round matches, but dropped out as fourth in the group.

European championships

The Yugoslavs first took part in a European championship in Paris in 1951 and finished fifth. Four years later they achieved the same result. In the next three tournaments they came in seventh place. In 1971 it was worse for her with eleventh place. As hosts, they finished third at the European Championship in 1975 and thus won their first medal. Two years later there was a seventh place. The 1979 tournament ended with the Yugoslavs again in third place. In 1981 and 1985 they did not get past eleventh place. After that, they finished eighth twice. When they last played in 1991 , they lost the game for fifth place against Bulgaria .

World cup

At the first World Cup in 1965 , Yugoslavia finished eighth. It was her only participation in this competition.
