Bjorn Mirow

Björn Mirow (born June 22, 1938 in Hamburg ) is a German doctor and medical officer a. D. the Bundeswehr . Most recently, he was chief physician at the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz with the rank of general physician .

Life

After completing his studies, Mirow was called up to the 9th airborne defense battalion in Altenstadt (Upper Bavaria) in 1958 . After 18 months he was released from the rank of lieutenant in the reserve . He studied human medicine at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and then at the University of Cologne . In 1956 the state examination took place. From the Physikum he received a scholarship from the German Armed Forces and in 1967 rejoined the armed forces as a temporary soldier . Here he completed the briefing course at the Academy of Medical and Health Services of the Federal Armed Forces (SanAkBw) in Munich, completed the basic course for aviation doctors in Fürstenfeldbruck and was initially deployed as a troop doctor for Army Aviation Squadron 8 at the Oberschleißheim airfield . This was followed by a year-long assignment as a lecture hall director at the SanAkBw and then until 1977 the specialist training for internal medicine at the Schwabing Clinic . Until 1980 he was head of the medical examination center for internal medicine in what was then the Bundeswehr Hospital in Munich. After that he was chief physician at the former Bundeswehr Hospital Detmold until 1986 and subsequently at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Munich. After its decommissioning, he took over the management of the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in the same position. He retired in September 1998. Mirow is married and has four children.
