Christoph Veit

Christoph Veit (born November 23, 1948 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German doctor and was a medical officer in the Bundeswehr , most recently in the rank of general doctor . He's since December 2010. retired, previously he was Deputy Chief of Staff since 2008. I in the command staff of the medical service (FüSan) in the Federal Ministry of Defense . From 2004 to 2008 he was chief physician at the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz . From 2009 to 2016 Veit was President of the German Society for Military Medicine and Military Pharmacy . At the end of 2018 he was elected Honorary President.

Life

Veit studied medicine at the universities of Bonn and Graz from 1968 to 1974 . After receiving his doctorate from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 1976, he joined the German Armed Forces in 1977. After working as a military doctor and at what was then the Bundeswehr Hospital in Munich , he continued his training as a military hygienist and in the field of tropical medicine from 1979 to 1982 . From 1982 to 1987 he worked as a military area hygienist in the medical and health service department of the former Military District Command VI in Munich. This was followed by several assignments as a consultant in the inspection of the sanitary and health system (InSan) until 1992 , after which he was in the rank of senior physician until 1994 chief medical officer (LSO) and chief hygienist of the army in the army office and from 1995 to 1996 LSO in the army support command . In 1996 he returned to the Ministry of Defense , where he held the post of Head of Department InSan I 2 (therapeutic care) until 1998 and then InSan I 1 ( military medicine principle ) until 2002 . After serving as head of the medical NBC protection department in the Bundeswehr medical office , he was promoted to chief physician at the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in 2004, promoted to general physician in 2005 and has been head of the FüSan I department since 2008. Before that, he was Medical Advisor Com ISAF in Kabul for four months .

Veit is a doctor for public health . He is married and has four children.
