The Army Support Command (HUstgKdo) was a higher command authority of the German Army from 1995 to 2002, with its last seat in Koblenz . In addition to the Army Office and the Army Command , the Army Support Command was the “third pillar” of the Army. The task of the Army Support Command was to take over logistical and medical services for the Army. Conceptually, it is roughly comparable or the "predecessor" of the later Army Command or the later armed forces base .

history

The command was set up in Army Structure 5 (N) in accordance with the deployment order from December 1994 to January 1, 1995 in Mönchengladbach in the Niederrhein barracks. Until April 1996:

On January 1, 2000, the command moved its headquarters to Koblenz, Rhein-Kaserne. In October 2001, Medical Brigade 1 switched from the Army Support Command to the Medical Command Command .

On September 30, 2002, the Army Support Command was decommissioned. From October 1, 2002, the Army logistics center in Bad Neuenahr was set up from parts of the HUKdo and the Army Materials Office . At the same time, Logistics Brigade 1 switched to Army Command , Logistics Brigade 2 switched to Armed Forces Base (Defense Division IV ), and Logistics Brigade 4 was subordinated to Defense Division I.

The areas of material requirements and stock disposition of the 3 logistics brigades as well as the material office were combined in the newly established logistics center of the Bundeswehr . Remaining tasks in the field of armaments were assigned to the Army Office .

Association badge

The association badge is similar to that of the Army Office except for the blue coat of arms. The blue escutcheon stands for the color of the logistic force and the medical force, which are organized in the command. The crossed swords are the symbol of the army branch. The border with the silver cord with an interwoven black frame corresponds to the border of all division association badges and the Army Office.

organization

The command authority was subordinate to the inspector of the army . In addition to the staff, the command was divided into three departments and one group:

  • Department I Logistics : Planning and control of the logistics of the army, in particular operational preparation and operational support
  • Department II Armaments / Use: Armaments planning and implementation, international arms cooperation and use of defense material
  • Department III Medical Service of the Army : It was responsible for the technical management of the Medical Service of the Army, as well as the further development of the Medical Force and the Army Medical Service. The department was headed by the Army Doctor General.
  • Protection tasks group: responsible across all armed forces for questions of environmental, fire and radiation protection as well as the storage and transport of dangerous goods.
