history
Lineup
The Defense District Command was planned to take over Army Structure II in the 1960s as part of the Territorial Army and subordinated to the Commander in Defense Area VI . Based on the civil administrative structure , the defense district roughly corresponded to the (government) district of Upper Palatinate . The location of the Regensburg staff was accordingly .
resolution
In 2001 the territorial army was disbanded. The military area commands and defense district commands were subordinated to the newly established armed forces base . The defense areas and defense districts were fundamentally reorganized and their number reduced. The Defense District Command 62 was decommissioned and its command area was incorporated into Defense District 66 .
structure
Like most units of the Territorial Army, the Defense District Command consisted of only a few active soldiers. Only in the case of defense , the defense district command could by the convening of reserve and the mobilization stored and civilian material to a troop strength increase , which is about a (small) regiment or battalion of the Army corresponded. For the longest time of its existence the Defense District Command was roughly subdivided into subordinate Defense District Commands, derived from the civil administrative structure . Around 1989 only one homeland security company was subordinate to the core of the infantry -based homeland security force .
Association badge
The Defense District Command did not have its own association badge due to its planning as a predominantly non-active unit . The few active soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the superior military area command.
As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff company " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire defense district command. It corresponded exactly to the coat of arms of the Upper Palatinate district . It was a reference to the deployment of space as figures the Palatine lion , the diamonds as in the Bavarian state coat of arms and the Petri key as in Regensburg coat of arms . With the exception of the board , the internal association insignia essentially corresponded to the association insignia of the 4th Panzer Grenadier Division, the brigades originally subordinate to it and the Air Mobile Forces / 4 Command. Division .
