Defense District Command
Defense District Commands ( VKK ) were the lowest command authorities of the territorial army of the Bundeswehr . They were subordinate to defense district commands, which in turn were subordinate to military area commands. Only in the area of the Defense Division I in Kiel were the VKK directly subordinate to the Defense Division Command for the longest time of their existence.
Orders and organization
The main task was the territorial defense in their defense district. According to the civil administrative structure , the defense circle mostly comprised the area of one or more rural districts and independent cities . Most of the defense district commandos were subordinate to homeland security companies as the core of the infantry -based homeland security force . Most of the defense district commands were also subordinate to military command and reserve battalions as important agencies for the substitute system . In peacetime the Defense District Command had only a few active soldiers. In the case of defense , the defense circle commands should by convening of reservists to a size grow , mostly as a battalion or a regiment of the Army corresponded.
history
The first district defense commands were set up as part of the territorial army in the early 1960s . In 2001 the territorial army was disbanded as part of the army . The district defense commandos were dissolved by around 2004. The Defense District Command, which continued to exist in the armed forces base , was instead subordinated to district liaison commands as liaison offices to the district administrators and mayors .
Designation system
The Defense District Commands were designated Defense District Command XYZ . XYZ was a three-digit number . XY was the number of the (originally) superior defense district command. X (1 to 8) therefore corresponded (until the fundamental reorganization of the defense areas in 2001) to the number of the defense area in which the Defense District Command was (originally) located. Z (1 to 9) was the serial number of the Defense District Command within the Defense District Command.
