The supply command 800 was one of the supply commands of the territorial army in the army of the Bundeswehr . The headquarters were in Lingen . The supply command was subordinate to the Territorial Command North .

assignments

The supply command bundled the units of the repair and supply troops at the level of the territorial command . While in the field army at the level of the corps the repair and the supply were organized in separate units (three repair and supply commands each ), it was decided in the territorial army at the level of the territorial command to concentrate the forces in the supply commands.

One order was, on the one hand, the testing , maintenance and repair of the weapon systems , vehicles and electronic devices such as telecommunications technology for the Territorial Command. The subordinate defense areas led their own units of the repair force; Depending on the situation , the supply command supported these subordinate units and units of the field army in Defense Areas II and III . The supply command carried out repairs at all levels of material maintenance. For work at higher levels of material conservation, the supply command had an army repair work and depot repair groups and coordinated the award of contracts to private companies. The repair command 1 and other units of the repair force in the field army transferred orders of higher material maintenance levels to the supply command.

Another task was the logistics in the operations room of the Territorial Command. The supply command was responsible for the operation of the rear (main) depots of the army. The supply command secured the supplies for the troops of the territorial command and carried (defense) material from the rear areas to (advanced) depots or transshipment points of the field army, where the further distribution by the supply force of the field army, at the level of the corps by the supply command 1 , took place. The secondary task of the supply command was the operation of field post facilities . For the operation of the medical depots , a close cooperation with the medical commandos 1 and 800 , which in turn had considerable transport capacities, was necessary. To support the deployment and to provide logistical support for the allied armed forces , supply command 800 was able to support support commands 3 and 8 , depending on the situation . For handling Operation- and fuels the supply command was on the pipeline pioneers of the pioneer commands 800 instructed in the field of supply commands several tank farms operated.

In peacetime around 1989 the supply command, like almost all units of the territorial army, only consisted of a few active soldiers. In the case of defense , the supply command could after mobilization by the convening of reservists and service commitment of civilian employees to around 4,000 men grow up . Overall, the size of the supply command after the mobilization corresponded to the size of one of the (small) brigades of the field army.

Note: An armored repair plant of the Bundeswehr in Ichendorf was operated privately . The equipment depots were located in Bork , Goch , Heiligenhaus , Hesedorf , Itterbeck , Ochtrup , Rheine , Straelen , Weener . Ammunition depots were located in Liebenau (see Liebenau special ammunition warehouse ), Lübberstedt , Lünten , Ochtrup, Olfen , Saerbeck , Walsrode . Medical depots were set up in Epe and Quakenbrück .

history

The supply command was set up in the Lingen Scharnhorst barracks to take Army Structure III in 1970 .

After the end of the Cold War , the supply command was decommissioned in March 1994 at around the same time as the Northern Territorial Command was dissolved.

Association badge

The supply command did not have its own association badge due to its planning as part of the dependent units, which were directly subordinate to the territorial command, analogous to corps troops . The soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the higher-level territorial command.

As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff company " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire supply command. Similar to the beret badge of the supply troops, it showed a wing stick ( caduceus ). Similar to the Lingen city coat of arms , it showed three towers . Blue was the weapon color of the armies.
