Hesedorf ( Low German Heesdbod ) is a district of the city of Bremervörde in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district in Lower Saxony with around 1,800 inhabitants.

history

It was first mentioned as Hesethorpe in 1100 in the Wilkens' records . The first mention in a document, namely the May regesta , is secured for the year 1272.

The construction of the station on the Bremerhaven – Buxtehude line in Hesedorf in 1916 promoted economic development.

On March 1, 1974, the municipality of Hesedorf near Bremervörde was incorporated into the city of Bremervörde.

In Hesedorf there is a large gas storage facility as well as one of the largest equipment depots in Germany. This depot was not found during the Second World War , as a result of which no bombs were dropped over Hesedorf.

Population development

In 1500 the population was about 30, it increased to about 90 by 1669 and decreased slightly to about 75 by 1691, after which about 95 inhabitants are given for the year 1752 and about 105 inhabitants for the year 1766. By 1801 the population increased to 162. Today about 2300 people inhabit Hesedorf.

Culture and sights

Hesedorf is a destination for day tourists who z. B. visit the Pulvermühlenbach , as well as the river of the Hese . Furthermore, there is an old courtyard in the center of the village, which consists of a carriage shed, a bakery and a Lower Saxony house. These half-timbered buildings are regularly open to visitors at club festivals of the Heimatverein and on the day of the open monument .
