Lünten is a parish of Vreden in the Westphalian Westmünsterland ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) and has about 1400 inhabitants.

geography

The parish village of Lünten is located near the Dutch border, around 8 km north of Vreden .

history

The current core of the settlement was built in 1756 with the construction of the first chapel and the Steinbrenner farm. In 1895 a few houses were built around it. At the location of the former chapel there is now a war memorial . In 1906 the chapel was demolished and a new church was built. After that, Lünten gradually developed into a village. When the new church became too small in 1964, two aisles were added to it. Due to the constant designation of new building areas, Lünten is expanding and developing more and more.

In addition to the church, the old mill and the newly designed village center including the village fountain are among the sights of Lünten. Furthermore, the nature reserves Lüntener Fischteiche , Lüntener Wald and Schwatte Gatt , which are home to the typical heather and moorland landscapes of the Münsterland, are wholly or partly in Lünten.
