The telecommunications command bundled the units of the telecommunications force at the corps level . The main task was the construction, operation and maintenance of the information technology of the corps command posts . Telecommunication technology enabled the commanding general and his staff to connect to their own corps troops , subordinate divisions , neighboring corps and higher-level command posts of the Central Army Group . The main task of the Telecommunications Battalion 320 was electronic warfare .

Overall, the size of the telecommunications command with about 2100 soldiers in the war organization corresponded to about half a brigade of the field army .

structure

Around 1989 the telecommunications command was roughly divided into:

In peacetime, Telecommunications Command 3 was also subordinate to three telecommunications companies for electronic warfare, which in the event of a defense were subordinate to the 2nd Panzer Grenadier Division and the 5th Panzer Division .

history

prehistory

From 1960, the Corps Telecommunications Commander 3 was planned in Koblenz, who was already based in the Falckenstein barracks in Koblenz .

Lineup

The Fernmeldekommando 3 was set up in 1972 to take Army Structure III in the Falckenstein barracks in Ulm. The staff and headquarters company of Corps Telecommunication Commander 3 were called in for the preparation.

resolution

After the end of the Cold War , the telecommunications command 3 was on March 31, 1994 about the same time as the decommissioning of the III. Corps decommissioned. Parts were used to set up the Command Support Brigade 900 .

Association badge

The telecommunications command did not have its own association badge due to its planning as part of the dependent corps troops . The soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the higher corps .

As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff company " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire telecommunications command. It essentially showed the lightning bolt as an indication of the type of service, which is similarly contained in the beret badge of the telecommunications force . Yellow is the troop's weapon color . The federal eagle is the German heraldic animal and something like that in the association badge of the III. Corps shown. The Latin motto "Cito Atque Secure". means "fast and safe".
