The Command Support Brigade 900 was a large unit of the Army of the Bundeswehr. For the longest time of its existence the brigade was under the command of the Army Command .

history

prehistory

The command support brigade is to be seen in a line of tradition with the command telecommunications brigade 700 , the command telecommunications brigade 900 and the telecommunications command 900 .

Lineup

In the final phase of the East-West conflict , the telecommunications operators at the highest command levels in the army were mostly organized in telecommunications commands. For the rods of the Corps , the territorial commands and the top management of the Territorial Army operated the telecommunications commands, for example, fixed Fernmedeldeeinrichtungen and communication technology of the most important command posts . After the Cold War and after the loosening of the NATO command structure , these units - unless they were disbanded in the course of the downsizing of the Bundeswehr - were to be merged into four command support brigades. With this step, the separation into territorial and field armies was de facto organizationally abolished with regard to the command support brigades. It was planned to subordinate the command support brigades 1 , 2 and 4 to one of the planned corps / territorial commands. Even if the amalgamation of the corps and territorial commands in West Germany was not carried out, the establishment of the command support brigades, which are now part of the I. (German-Dutch) , II. (German-American) and (IV. ) Corps / Territorialkommando (East) (the III. Corps was dissolved) should be placed under. The command telecommunication brigade 900 was to operate the communication technology of the command posts of the highest command posts of the army, i.e. in particular the command post of the army and the newly planned command post , as a successor to the command post . In addition to the telecommunications, the command support brigades led troops of the troops for operational information , the topography troops , the front news troops and music corps , which up to now were already part of the corps troops at corps level or were previously directly subordinate to the territorial commands . The three logistics brigades and the three medical brigades were set up analogously at the level of the corps (or corps / territorial commands).

The command support brigade 900 was reorganized on April 1, 1994 to take over the army structure V / V (N) essentially from parts of the telecommunication command 900 and parts of the telecommunication command 3 in the Tomburg barracks, which were dissolved at the same time .

resolution

The Command Support Brigade 900 was decommissioned June 21, 2002 for / after incorporation into the armed forces base . In the armed forces base, the tasks of command support were bundled , especially at the armed forces support command . Parts of the Command Support Brigade 900 were reclassified to the Command Support Regiment 28 in Rheinbach , which moved to Mechernich in 2004 .

Association badge

Unlike other brigades in the army, the command support brigade did not have its own badge . The soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the higher-level agencies .

As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff company " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire command support brigade. It basically showed the Iron Cross as the national emblem of the Bundeswehr and a yellow lightning bolt as an indication of the type of service , which is similarly included in the beret badge of the telecommunications troops . Yellow is the troop's weapon color . The lightning bolt together with a black and red bar forms the flag of Germany . This internal association badge was already the internal association badge of the staff of the Command Telecommunications Brigade 900 . The internal association badge was continued by the Command Support Regiment 28.
