The command staff of the army ( Fü H ) was a department in the Federal Ministry of Defense and one of the five command posts in the military management area of the Bundeswehr . The command staff of the army was thus at the same time a ministerial department and the highest military command authority of the army . On October 1, 2012, the non-ministerial tasks were transferred to the Army Command , which since then has been in charge of all subordinate units of the Army as the purely military supreme command authority of the Army.
management
The army inspector presided over the command staff . The inspector of the army with the rank of lieutenant general headed the command staff and in this function was subordinate to the Federal Minister of Defense until about a year before the management staff was dissolved , and later to the inspector general of the Bundeswehr until the dissolution . The deputy inspector also held the rank of lieutenant general. The Inspector General of the Bundeswehr and the subordinate command staff of the armed forces were initially only authorized to give instructions to the command staff of the armed forces in questions of the development and implementation of the overall concept of the Bundeswehr. The staff last consisted of around 180 soldiers and civilian employees.
tasks
The command staff was the supreme troop service command authority of the army branch . The staff ensured the operational readiness of the army in material and personnel terms. In addition, the two pillars of the army, the Army Command and the Army Office , were directly subordinate to the staff. The staff also supported the Army Inspector and the Federal Minister of Defense in their ministerial duties.
construction
The management staff was most recently divided into three staff departments and 15 units. The rod sections are of a Gen. (grade B6 ), and the papers of a Colonel (usually an officer in the general staff of Grade B 3 performed). In addition, the departments for personnel matters (Fü H / Pers) and central tasks (Fü H / Z) were subordinate to the staff.
