Heinz Kasch

Heinz Kasch (born January 5, 1926 in Lauban , Lower Silesia , † January 19, 2016 in Meckenheim ) was a German lieutenant general in the Bundeswehr . He was u. a. Commander of the 1st Panzer Division and Deputy Inspector of the Army as well as first representative for reservist matters to the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr . After active service, he was the first chairman of the Advisory Board for Voluntary Reservist Work at the Association of Reservists of the German Armed Forces .

Life

World War II and Labor Service

After graduating from primary school, Kasch was trained as a banker .

During the Second World War in 1944, he joined the military district VIII (Breslau) as a reserve officer candidate in the (ROB) Wehrmacht one. In 1945 he served in the Jäger Replacement Battalion 83 in Lauban and in the 3rd Company of the 28th Panzer Grenadier Regiment of the 8th Panzer Division . Most recently he held the rank of flag junior . He was eventually taken to the hospital and taken prisoner of war .

From 1946 to 1956 he was with the US service groups in Bavaria. In 1950 he became "Captain" of a laboratory service group.

Military background

Promotions

In 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr as an ensign . He started in the Panzer Grenadier Training Battalion in Münster and attended Army Officer School I in Hanover in 1956/57 . In 1957 he took part in the platoon leader course at the Infantry School (InfS) in Hammelburg and was platoon leader in the Quartiermeister transport battalion 914. 1957/58 he was an orderly officer at the Deputy Commissary General of III. Corps in Koblenz. In 1958 he became S 4 and Ordonnanzoffizier in the HQ Allied Forces Central Europe (AFCENT) in Fontainebleau. In 1959 he was again S 4 of III. Corps in Koblenz. From 1959 to 1961 he was an assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) Logistic and Organizations at HQ Allied Forces Central Europe in Fontainebleau.

From 1961 to 1963 he took part in the 4th General Staff Course (H) at the Management Academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. From 1963 to 1966 he was G 4 of the 5th Panzer Division in Diez / Lahn and 1966/67 G 3 of the 13th Panzer Grenadier Battalion in Wetzlar. From 1967 to 1969 he was in command of the 146th Supply Battalion in Koblenz. From 1969 to 1971 he was assistant to the command staff of the Army (Fü HV 1) in Bonn. From 1971 to 1975 he was head of the Log Plans Section at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, during this time, from 1973 to 1975, Senior Executive at the Deputy Chief of Staff Plans and Operations (DCPO).

From 1975 to 1979 he was head of the logistics department in the command staff of the armed forces (Fü SV) in Bonn. From 1979 to 1983 he was commander of the 1st Panzer Grenadier Division and 1st Panzer Division in Hanover and from 1983 to 1986 Deputy Inspector of the Army and first agent for reservist matters at the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr in Bonn.

Further activity

In 1986 he retired and voluntarily performed military exercises in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Bonn.

In 1990 he became the first chairman of the Advisory Board for Voluntary Reservist Work at the Association of Reservists of the German Federal Armed Forces (VdRBw). In 1991 he was in charge of the "Guideline for Association Work in the New Federal States".
