Wolfgang Malecha

Wolfgang Malecha (born June 17, 1932 in Jüterbog ; † April 3, 1994 in Bonn ) was a German officer in the Bundeswehr .

Career

Malecha began his military career in the artillery . From 1964 to 1969 he attended the 7th General Staff Course (H) at the Management Academy (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. In the period from July 1, 1970 to March 31, 1972, Lieutenant Colonel Malecha commanded the 215 armored artillery battalion in Augustdorf. From 1975 to 1977 the colonel was adjutant to the inspector general of the Bundeswehr.

From 1979 to 1982 he was Deputy Chief of Staff of the German Military Representative at the NATO Military Committee in Brussels. From April 1, 1982 to March 31, 1984 Brigadier General Malecha held the position of Chief of Staff of the III. Corps in Koblenz. As major general he was in command of the 6th Panzer Grenadier Division in Neumünster from April 1, 1984 to March 31, 1986. After being promoted to lieutenant general , Malecha held the post of deputy inspector of the army from April 1, 1986 to March 31, 1988 . In 1987 Lieutenant General Malecha at the Bundeswehr Artillery School in Idar-Oberstein campaigned for the purchase of the multiple rocket launcher MARS / MLRS: " This new weapon system is a leap in quality in the combat of combined arms ." MARS is a new weapon system for conventional warfare, with which, however, binary chemical weapons from US production could also be fired with high firepower. From 1988 to 1990 he was Deputy Chief of Staff Planning and Operations at SHAPE in Mons. In 1990 Malecha retired as a lieutenant general.

From 1992 to 1994 he was head of the West Regional District of the Clausewitz Society .
