Hubert Sonneck

Hubert Sonneck (born November 1, 1913 in Strehlitz (Silesia), † February 13, 1984 in Osnabrück ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general in the Bundeswehr .

Life

Sonneck attended high school in Neisse . He studied medicine at the University of Wroclaw for three semesters . In 1936 he joined the Wehrmacht and later received general staff training . During the Second World War he was a troop leader and served in general staffs. He received u. a. the Iron Cross 1st class. In 1945 he was taken prisoner by the US. From 1947 he worked as an editor for daily newspapers in northern Germany.

In 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr. From April 1, 1965 to September 7, 1966, commander of the 1st Airborne Division of the Bundeswehr. Afterwards, Sonneck worked from September 8, 1966 to September 30, 1968 as Deputy Inspector of the Army . Then followed Lieutenant General Hubert Sonneck from October 1, 1968 to March 31, 1974 as head of the Army Office (HA) in Cologne .
