Operations staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Commitments Staff of the Ministry of Defense ( EinsFüStab ) was from 2008 to 2012 existing, commonly located in the Federal Ministry Joint Staff , which the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr assisted in carrying out its operational related tasks.

history

The staff was set up on June 1, 2008 and was initially at the Bonn headquarters of the BMVg. On September 1, 2008, the move to Berlin was completed. The operational command staff , which was directly subordinate to the Inspector General, was initially led by Major General Erhard Bühler , who until then had been the head of the “Bundeswehr Operations” department in the Armed Forces (FüS V). He was supported by a military deputy with the rank of brigadier general and a civilian deputy.

As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr, the operational command staff was finally dissolved in December 2012. After the restructuring of the BMVg, the strategic tasks of the staff were mainly carried out by the newly established Strategy and Operations (SE) department from April 2012 . In addition, some of the tasks were transferred to the Bundeswehr Operations Command .

assignment

All mission-related tasks of the civil and military areas of the Federal Ministry should be bundled in the operational command staff. He was responsible for the planning, preparation, management and follow-up of the missions at the ministerial level. The aim of this concentration of tasks was to ensure improved, faster and more effective information for the management of the BMVg as well as the parliament and the cabinet. This restructuring did not increase the number of personnel in the Federal Ministry, as the 121 "deployment specialists" from all areas and departments were only reorganized. A possible expansion of the staff to up to 185 posts was initially planned.

structure

The operational command staff was divided into the following seven units:

  • EinFüStab 1 - Central Affairs, Evaluation; On-call center Bw; Staff reporting center; Position control center
