Ernst Klaffus

Ernst Klaffus (born September 17, 1935 in Rerik ; † November 30, 2011 ) was a German officer.

Klaffus initially worked in retail for a short time. In 1959 he joined the German Armed Forces and started an officer career. From March 1980 to September 1982 he was in command of the 13th Panzer Grenadier Brigade , and from October 1985 to November 1987 he was in command of the 11th Panzer Grenadier Division .

From 1987 to 1990 he held the position of chief of staff in the command staff of the army . From 1990 to 1994 he headed the Army Office with the rank of Lieutenant General .

Klaffus had three sons, including General Gerhard Ernst-Peter Klaffus and Colonel Werner Klaffus, since 2017 Commander of the United Nations Training Center of the Bundeswehr in Hammelburg .

Klaffus died in 2011 at the age of 76. His grave is in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 26 (Y)).
