Cord Dietrich Bertram von Hobe (born March 20, 1909 at Gut Ohrfeld , † October 6, 1991 in Niesgrau ) was a German lieutenant general in the Bundeswehr .

Life

After graduating from the Benedictine High School in Ettal , Hobe joined the 6th (Prussian) artillery regiment of the Reichswehr in Hanover as an officer candidate . He attended the infantry and artillery school from 1928 to 1930 and worked as a battery officer, department and regimental adjutant in Münster , Celle , Hanover and Koblenz . He attended the military academy from 1938 to 1939.

During the Second World War it was used in various ways in divisional staffs and in the staff of the 4th Army in the west and on the eastern front . In 1942 he was the first general staff officer in the infantry division "Grossdeutschland" (motorized). In 1944 he became a tactics teacher at the War Academy in Hirschberg. In November of the same year he was transferred to the infantry as regimental commander and was the leader of various divisional combat groups on the Western Front . He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross . In 1945 he was a colonel and commander of Panzer Group XIII for a short time in American captivity .

After the Second World War, Hobe became politically active in the German Conservative Party - German right-wing party , for which he ran unsuccessfully on the Schleswig-Holstein state list in the 1949 federal election. After initially working as a farmer in the community of Mühlenkoppel, Hobe joined the Bundeswehr in 1956. He was first Chief of Staff of the Military Leadership Council. In 1957 he was sub-department head FüB III in the BMVg. Hobe commanded the 11th Panzer Grenadier Division from 1961 to 1964 , and was then deputy. Commander BALTAP and from 1965 to 1968 the Allied Land Forces Schleswig-Holstein and Jutland . He was retired at the end of July 1968 and was awarded the Grand Cross of Merit with Star of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
