Hubertus Senff

Hubertus Senff (born January 4, 1935 in Insterburg ; † August 18, 2004 in Telgte ) was a German major general . From 1984 to 1987 he was head of the Office for the Military Counter-Intelligence Service (MAD) in Cologne .

Life

Senff was born in East Prussia in 1935 as the son of a forester who had died in the war . After high school in 1955 at a high school in Braunschweig , he studied for three semesters Law at the University of Frankfurt and was at this time in Frankfurt member of the Corps Saxonia Leipzig .

In 1956 he joined the armored training battalion in Munster as an officer candidate in the army of the Bundeswehr . In 1958 he was promoted to lieutenant . He was a platoon leader , personnel and orderly officer. He later became company commander in the 213 tank battalion in Augustdorf . From 1966 to 1968 he completed the 9th  General Staff Training (Army) at the Command Academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg .

In 1968 he was promoted to major . From 1968 to 1971 he was staff officer G1 and G3 in the staff of the 1st Panzer Grenadier Division in Hanover, responsible for personnel and leadership, training and organization. As a lieutenant colonel , he became battalion commander of a tank battalion in 1971 and subsequently adjutant to the inspector of the army, Lieutenant General Horst Hildebrandt . In 1977 he was at the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome and from 1977 to 1980 as Colonel Deputy Head of the German Military Representative at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels . From April 1, 1980 to March 31, 1983 he was brigade commander of the 19 Panzer Grenadier Brigade in Ahlen .

In 1983 he became Brigadier General Head of Staff Department  IV (Organization) in the Army Command Staff (Fü H) in Bonn . From 1984 to 1987 he was head of the Office for the Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD). Prior to his appointment as head of the MAD, he had not had any posts in the intelligence community . In his last assignment, Senff was division commander of the 11th Panzer Grenadier Division in Oldenburg .

Senff was chairman of the Community of Protestant East Prussia (GeO).
