Ulrich Birkenheier

Ulrich Birkenheier (* 1949 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German lawyer and retired civil servant . D. He was last President of the Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD) from 2012 to 2014 .

Life

Birkenheier graduated from high school in 1968 and then did his military service . From 1970 to 1974 he studied law at the Saarland University and later at the University of Bonn . In 1977 he passed the second state examination in law.

From 1978 Birkenheier was employed in the Federal Armed Forces administration, first as a second legal advisor to the then Military District Command  III, then from 1981 to 1983 as a law teacher at the Army Officers' School in Hanover. Until 1987 he held various officer in the Ministry of Defense , in different usages in the 1988 Federal Chancellery operates.

In 1995, he took over Section P I 1 in the Federal Ministry of Defense for fundamental matters of personnel planning and development. From 1998 he headed the PSZ III sub-department for social affairs, and from 2005 on the R I sub-department for special legal matters.

From July 1, 2012 to December 11, 2014, Birkenheier took over the management of the MAD and thereby became a political official . Birkenheier's successor is Christof Gramm .
