Gerd-Helmut Komossa
Gerd-Helmut Komossa (born November 11, 1924 in Allenstein , East Prussia ; † April 26, 2018 in Bonn ) was a major general in the Bundeswehr . From 1977 to 1980 he was the head of the "Office for Security of the Federal Armed Forces" (ASBw) and the head of the Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD).
Life
He joined the Wehrmacht in 1943 and was deployed as an advanced observer on the Eastern Front. In 1945 he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, which he spent in a camp in Tilsit in East Prussia. After the war, he was taken over as a first lieutenant in the Bundeswehr in 1956 . From 1971 to 1973 he was adjutant to the inspector general of the Bundeswehr , Admiral Armin Zimmermann .
After his work in the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg, Komossa took over the management of the Military Counter-Intelligence Service (MAD) under the Social Democratic Defense Minister Georg Leber on September 28, 1977, after the retirement of Brigadier General Paul-Albert Scherer . The MAD was hit hard at the time because of a series of clandestine wiretapping operations (e.g. Traube eavesdropping affair ), and Komossa was supposed to reorganize the intelligence service. He then took over command of the 12th Panzer Division as the successor to Gert Bastian and was promoted to major general. Subsequently, he was from April 1, 1983 to March 31, 1985 Commander of the Territorial Command South .
In 1996/97 Komossa was one of the founding members of the majority vote .
Since 2000, Gerd Komossa has published several books, two of them in the publisher Stocker / Ares , which is considered to be politically right-wing . He gave an interview to the far-right National Zeitung (issue 25/2005). He was chairman of the Gesellschaft für die Einheit Deutschlands e. V. ( Bonn ), which was funded in 2001 by the Federal Agency for Civic Education as a recognized educational institution.
