Hans Teusen

Hans Teusen (born July 26, 1917 in Salz ; † February 11, 2011 in Bad Neuenahr ) was a German officer , most recently Major General of the Army of the Bundeswehr .

Military career

During the Second World War, Hans Teusen was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross as a lieutenant and platoon leader of the 6th Company of Parachute Jäger Regiment 2 in Greece during the airborne battle for Crete on June 14, 1941 . At the beginning of 1945 he was Major First General Staff Officer at the commanding general of the training and replacement troops of the 1st Parachute Army .

Hans Teusen was a member of the Bundeswehr from 1956 to 1977. As a colonel, he took over command of Airborne Brigade 25 "Black Forest" in April 1965 , which he led until September 1969. After that he was commander of Army Officer School III in Munich. From October 1, 1971 to September 30, 1973 he was commander of the 12th Panzer Division . From 1973 to 1977 he was deputy of the personnel department in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn.
