Artur Weber

Artur Weber (* 1904 , † 1985 ) was a German officer, most recently major general in the Bundeswehr .

Life

Weber joined the 15th Infantry Regiment of the Reichswehr in 1921 . Initially used as a non-commissioned officer , he was promoted to lieutenant in 1929 and later to first lieutenant . He worked in the functions of platoon leader , lecture hall manager, intelligence officer and company commander .

In 1936 he became a regimental adjutant in the 111th Infantry Regiment of the Wehrmacht . With the rank of captain , he completed general staff training from 1937 to 1939 . When the Second World War broke out , he was transferred to the 263rd Infantry Division . In 1940 he was employed in the 216th Infantry Division and from 1940 to 1942 in the planning department of the chief of transport in the Army High Command . In the meantime promoted to lieutenant colonel and deployed in the 97th Jäger Division and 297th Infantry Division , he was taken prisoner by the Soviets in Stalingrad in 1943 .

In 1950 he was released and in 1956 joined the Bundeswehr as a colonel . From 1956 to 1960 he was commander of the Bundeswehr school for internal leadership in Koblenz. In 1959 he was promoted to brigadier general . From 1960 to 1961 he was deputy commander of the 4th Panzer Grenadier Division and from 1961 to 1962 commander of the 12th Panzer Division . Most recently he was general of the combat troops and stage manager of the infantry. At the end of December 31, 1964, he was retired.
