Rudolf J. Schlaffer

Rudolf J. Schlaffer (* 1970 in Amberg ) is a German officer ( lieutenant colonel ) and military historian .

Life

Floppy joined in 1991 as an officer cadet of the army in the Bundeswehr one. He was trained with the mountain troops and armored infantry troops. From 1994 to 1997 he studied history as well as social and legal sciences at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg, the University of Hamburg and the Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut.

Subsequently, he was deployed several times in troop and staff assignments. He joined the Military History Research Office (MGFA) as a research assistant in 1999 . One of his research areas is the “military history of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Alliance”. From 2004 to 2008 he was editor of the military history magazine .

In 2006 he received his doctorate from Bernd Wegner at the Helmut Schmidt University with the dissertation The Defense Commissioner of the German Bundestag: Conception, Formation and Development of the Office from Helmuth von Grolman to Karl Wilhelm Berkhan to Dr. phil. PhD. Since 2009 he has been a lecturer at the Historical Institute of the University of Potsdam .

In 2013 he took over the project management “Strategy and Security Policy of the Federal Republic of Germany” at MGFA (today: Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr ).
