Heiner Möllers

Heiner Möllers (* 1965 in Senden ) is a German officer ( lieutenant colonel ) and military historian .

Life

From 1984 to 1987 Möllers was an officer candidate (SaZ 3) in the artillery force of the Bundeswehr. After several military exercises, he was promoted to captain of the reserve. Today he is a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force.

From 1987 to 1992 he studied modern and contemporary history, political science, geography and medieval history at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . After the acquisition of the academic degree of Master of Arts with a study on the German military attaché at the embassy in Paris (1885-1900), he was in 1995 when Gerd Krumeich and R. Bernhard Kroener at the University of Freiburg to the Dr. phil. PhD. The title of his dissertation is Reichswehr Minister Otto Geßler. A biographical study of apolitical military policy in the Weimar Republic (1920–1928) .

From 1990 to 1992 he worked as a freelancer for the Badische Zeitung . After being reinstated in the German Armed Forces, he was a lecturer in military history at the Air Force Officers' School (OSLw) in Fürstenfeldbruck from 1996 to 2000 . From 2000 to 2008 he was the head of the Department for Political and Historical Education, Military History Collections and the Maintenance of Tradition in the Air Force in the Air Force Office (LwA) in Cologne-Wahn. In 2008 he became a research associate at Research Area III, project manager for the history of the armed forces and specialist head of the air force. Since 2013 he has been head of the media project division at the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr (ZMSBw) in Potsdam.

Möllers is the initiator and, since 2011, the main editor of the publications on the history of the German Air Force ( Carola Hartmann Miles-Verlag ).
