Eberhard Birk

Eberhard Birk (* 1967 in Heilbronn ) is a German political scientist and military historian . He is a lecturer in military history and political education at the Air Force Officer's School .

Life

From 1987 to 1993 he served as a temporary soldier in the supply force of the German Army . He currently holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the reserve.

Birk studied political science and history at the University of Augsburg from 1993 to 1997 . From 1995 to 1999 he was a scholarship holder of the German student and graduate support of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung . In 1998 he accepted a position as a lecturer at the University of Augsburg, which he held until 2000. In 1999 he was at Theo Stammen - second corrector was Andreas Wirsching - at the Faculty I with the dissertation The functional transformation of Western European Union (WEU) in the European integration process for Dr. phil. PhD.

In the same year he moved to the Air Force Officer's School (OSLw) in Fürstenfeldbruck as a lecturer in military history and political education, where he is still employed as a councilor . From 2004 to 2012 he was the editorial director of the Gneisenau-Blätter (published by the Gneisenau-Gesellschaft der OSLw). Since 2016 he has been an invited visiting professor at the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages ​​of the Bucharest Polytechnic University . His main research interests are German military history, military tradition, and strategy and security policy .

Since 2011 he has been co-editor of the publications on the history of the German Air Force at Carola Hartmann Miles-Verlag . Several articles appeared in the military journal Österreichische Militärische Zeitschrift (ÖMZ).
