Alois Bach (General)

Alois Bach (* 1951 in Birresborn ) is a retired German Brigadier General . D.

Life

Bach grew up in his birthplace Birresborn and passed his Abitur in 1969 at the Catholic St.  Johannes-Gymnasium Lahnstein . In 1970 he joined the Bundeswehr in the 10/10 training regiment in Ingolstadt and completed training as a tank officer. From 1974 to 1982 he was employed as platoon leader , S 2 and company commander in the tank battalions 304, 220 and 284 in Dornstadt .

From 1982 to 1984 he took part in the general staff course (H) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg , where he was trained as an officer in the general staff service . He then worked as a security policy advisor at the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) near Munich. In 1988 he became G 3 of Panzer Brigade 22 in Murnau . In 1991/92 he was in command of the 244 tank battalion in Landshut . In 1993 he took a security policy course at the University of Geneva . In 1993/94 he was the spokesman for army affairs in the Federal Ministry of Defense . From 1995 to 1998 he was head of division in the press and information staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense (PrInfoStab) in Bonn and deputy press spokesman for Federal Defense Minister Volker Rühe (CDU).

From 1998 to 2002 the brigadier general (from 2000) was commander of the Panzergrenadierbrigade 38 "Sachsen-Anhalt" in Weißenfels and during this time from 2001 to 2002 he was in command of the multinational brigade "Süd" (MNB / S) in the field camp as part of the KFOR operation Prizren , Kosovo and German commanders there. From 2002 to 2006 he was the commissioner for education and training at the (from 2005) general inspector (s) of the Bundeswehr. Most recently he was in command of the Center for Inner Guidance (ZInFü) in Koblenz from 2006 to 2013 . In 2013 he was retired. Since then he has been chairman of the “Friends of the Center for Inner Leadership”.

Bach is Catholic, married and has two children.
