Dieter Löchel

Dieter Löchel (born January 8, 1943 in Kellinghausen ) is a retired German Brigadier General . D.

After graduating from high school in Heide, he joined the Bundeswehr in 1964 in the training company 3/11 and was trained as an officer in the 314 tank battalion in Oldenburg. In 1965/66 he attended Army Officer's School III in Munich. From 1966 he was deployed as an armored platoon leader and telecommunications officer with Panzerbataillon 183 in Boostedt. In 1972 he became company commander in the 214 tank battalion in Augustdorf. From 1975 to 1980 he was company commander of the staff and supply company in Panzerbataillon 154 and Panzerbataillon 53 in Hessisch Lichtenau.

From 1980 to 1983 he was deputy battalion commander of Panzer Battalion 14 in Hildesheim. In 1983 he became S 3 staff officer organization of the I. Corps in Munster. From 1985 to 1987 he was in command of the 84th Panzer Battalion in Lüneburg and from 1987 to 1989 of the 93rd Panzer Training Battalion in Munster. In 1989 he became G 3 exercises in the Territorial Command South in Mannheim. From 1991 to 1993 he was an Army Liaison Officer at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. From 1993 to 1995 he was deputy commander of the 7th Panzer Grenadier Brigade in Hamburg.

In 1995 he became the commander of the 21 Panzer Brigade in Augustdorf. During the SFOR mission in 1999, he was the commander of the German-French task force DFGFA. After that he was briefly available with the III / 7th Panzer Division in Düsseldorf. From 1999 to 2002 he was the commissioner for education and training for the inspector general of the Bundeswehr in Bonn. In 2002 he was retired.

Löchel is married and has three children.
