Frank Schild (born December 30, 1931 in Berlin ; † August 31, 2014 ) was a German major general in the Bundeswehr .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1952, Schild joined the Federal Border Police (BGS) as an officer candidate . In 1955 he was promoted to lieutenant . In 1956 he joined the army of the Bundeswehr . He was a platoon leader and battery chief in an armored artillery battalion.

From 1963 to 1965 he took part in the general staff course (H) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. After that he was G 1 of the 4th Jägerdivision . In 1967/68 he attended Command and General Staff College (CGSC) in Fort Leavenworth , Kansas. From 1970 to 1972 he was G 3 / Op of the II Corps in Ulm and commander of a tank artillery battalion. In 1973 he became a consultant in the command staff of the army . From 1977 to 1980 the Colonel was in command of Airborne Brigade 27 in Lippstadt.

From 1980 to 1982 the Brigadier General was Head of the Department of Internal Management, Personnel, Training in the Command Staff of the Armed Forces (Fü SI) and officer for education and training at the General Inspector of the Bundeswehr . He then was Deputy Chief of Staff Plans and Policy Division of Allied Forces Central Europe (AFCENT) in Brunssum, Netherlands. From 1985 to 1991 the major general was in command of the Military District Command V in Stuttgart. During this time, in 1988, the WBK was involved in the military exercise "National Defense 88", in which mostly reservists took part. He then retired.

He was active in the Rotary Club on a voluntary basis : as a member of the RC Stuttgart- Remstal and in 1993/94 as governor in District 1830.

Schild, a Protestant, was married and the father of two children.
