Wolfgang Richter (General)

Wolfgang Richter (* 30th June 1956 in Gummersbach ) is a brigadier general from service of the Army of the Armed Forces . His last assignment was in charge of education and training for the General Inspector of the Federal Armed Forces and deputy to the Commander Center for Inner Leadership in Koblenz .

Military career

He joined the Bundeswehr in 1976 . From 1978 to 1981 he studied education at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . Then he was u. a. deployed as platoon leader and company commander in the 313 Panzer Grenadier Battalion in Varel . From 1990 to 1992 he took part in the general staff course (H) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg .

In 1992 he became staff officer G 4 (logistics) of Airborne Brigade 31 in Oldenburg . In 1994/95 he attended the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas , USA . From 1995 to 1997 he was in command of the 401 Panzer Grenadier Battalion in Hagenow . This was followed by a position as staff officer G 3 and deputy head of the infantry development group at the infantry school in Hammelburg . In 1998/99 he was stationed in Sarajevo , Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the SFOR mission . From 1999 to 2001 he was Desk Officer Exercise Policy at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Belgium. In 2001 he became Chief of the Personal Staff Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR), Admiral Rainer Feist . In 2004 he was transferred to the command staff of the armed forces in Bonn as Head of Division Fü S VI 3 ( NBC defense and protective tasks of the Bundeswehr; military training areas and on-site training facilities) . In 2008/09 he was an International Fellow at the US Army War College (USAWC) in Carlisle , Pennsylvania , USA. From 2009 to 2012 he was in command of the Operative Information Center in Mayen . In 2011 he was Deputy Chief of Staff Communication at the Regional Command North headquarters in Mazar-e-Sharif , Afghanistan, as part of the ISAF mission .

From 2012 to 2015 he served as Chief of Staff J9 Civil Military Cooperation at HQ Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFC Naples) in Italy. In 2015, he became the commissioner for education and training for the General Inspector of the Bundeswehr , General Volker Wieker and later General Eberhard Zorn , and deputy to the Commander Center for Internal Management , initially Major General Jürgen Weigt and later Major General Reinhardt Zudrop . At the end of March 2019, Richter passed this post to Colonel Robert Sieger and retired.

Richter is married with one child.
