Christof Munzlinger

Christof Munzlinger (born March 2, 1954 in Simmern / Hunsrück ) is a retired Brigadier General . D. the Bundeswehr .

Life

Munzlinger began his service in the Bundeswehr in 1972 with the Army Aviation Transport Regiment 35 in Andernach . After studying education at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich in Neubiberg, he switched to the artillery force . After that he was u. a. Commander of the 405 tank artillery battalion in Dabel.

From 1984 to 1986 he completed the general staff course (H) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. He also worked in the Military Counter-Intelligence Service (MAD) and on the planning staff of the Federal Minister of Defense (PlStab). Later he was a course director at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg. In 2000 he became chief of the staff of the Defense Area Command (WBK) III / 7th Panzer Division in Düsseldorf.

In May 2005 Munzlinger took over command of Panzer Brigade 18 in Boostedt. From March to July 2006 he was on duty in Afghanistan as the commander of the 10th German ISAF contingent . Subsequently, he was again commander of the tank brigade 18 until January 10, 2008. From February 1, 2008, he was responsible for the education and training of the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr (BEA). Since the beginning of 2011 he has also been the “Commissioner for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders and Task Force Traumatized Soldiers”. He handed over this function to Brigadier General Klaus von Heimendahl on December 13, 2012 . Since February 1, 2013 Munzlinger was the commander of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional command in Schwerin. On March 10, 2016, he handed over command to Brigadier General Gerd Kropf and was retired.

Christof Munzlinger is a Roman Catholic, has been married to the Evangelical Lutheran photographer Christine Jörss-Munzlinger, who comes from a Mecklenburg pastor family, since 1995 and has five children.

He is a passionate pianist and organist .
