Adalbert Baron von der Recke (born October 4, 1930 in Braunschweig ) is a German officer ( retired major general ).

Life

Von der Recke was born in what was then the Free State of Braunschweig . After his father's death (January 19, 1942) he visited the Baltic school with boarding facilities in Międzyzdroje and ended - after escaping from Pomerania in the fall of 1945 - his schooling in 1948 with the intermediate certificate in Bockenem / resin. In 1950 he completed his training as a farmer and agricultural machinery mechanic. In 1951 he joined the Lower Saxony police service . In 1955 he acquired the advanced technical college entrance qualification in Hanover in the second educational path .

After the formation of the Bundeswehr , he joined the Bundeswehr as an officer candidate in 1956 . As an officer in the troop service he was used, among other things, as a company commander , as a personnel officer at the armored forces school and as a tactics teacher at the army officers' school in Hanover. From 1970 to 1973 he was commander of the 34th Panzer Battalion in Celle , then head of the LehrOffz group in the General Staff Service at the Munster armored troop school and from 1978 to 1980 as a colonel commander of a teaching group at the army officers' school in Hanover. From 1980 to 1983 he was the commander of Panzer Brigade 3 in Nienburg.

Von der Recke was then commander of the Inner Guidance Center (ZInFü) in Koblenz from 1983 to 1987 . In 1987, as major general, he became the commander of Defense Area II (Lower Saxony, Bremen) with KdoStab in Hanover. In 1991 he was retired.

He is active in the Protestant Church on a voluntary basis. He was a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover and deputy chairman of the advisory board for evangelical military pastoral care in Germany . From 1993 to 2003 he was the regional chairman of the German War Graves Commission in Lower Saxony and is currently its honorary chairman.

Von der Recke is married and has four daughters and three sons.

On the occasion of the award of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit (2004), the Lower Saxony Minister of Education , Bernd Busemann , commented on von der Recke: “Committed advocacy for the humanitarian concerns of international understanding, reconciliation after the warlike catastrophes of the 20th century as well as the enlightenment and education of the Youth".
