Hans-Christian Beck

Hans-Christian Beck (born July 19, 1944 in Zwittau , Sudetenland ) is a German major general . From March 31, 2001 to July 14, 2005 he was commander of the command academy of the Bundeswehr .

Life

Military background

After graduating from high school , Beck joined the German Army in 1964 and was trained as an officer in Bad Reichenhall, Füssen and Munich. Afterwards he was platoon leader, personnel and security officer as well as company commander in Panzergrenadierbataillon 242 in Mitterharthausen. He completed the general staff course (H) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg and from 1978 to 1980 was a G4 officer in Jägerbrigade 10 in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate. From 1980 to 1982 he was used as a G3 officer in the headquarters of the Northern Army Group (NORTHAG) in Mönchengladbach. In 1982 a G3 post followed in the tactical center of the army in Hanover. He was then commander of the 122nd Panzer Grenadier Battalion in Oberviechtach. In 1986 he became a lecturer in troop leadership at the FüAkBw. From 1989 he was chief of staff of the 12th Panzer Division in Veitshöchheim. In 1991 he was transferred to the Army Command Staff (Fü H) in Bonn as head of the department for basic matters of officer and non-commissioned officer training. From 1993 to 1994 he was commander of Homeland Security Brigade 39 in Erfurt. In 1994 he was promoted to major general and used as commander of the Center for Inner Leadership (ZInFü) in Koblenz. From 2000 to 2001 he was briefly in command of the Luftmobile Forces / 4 command. Division in Regensburg. From 2001 to 2005 he finally succeeded Rudolf Lange as commander of the FüAkBw.

Others

From 2001 to 2004 he was Vice President of the Clausewitz Society .

He is a member of the board of trustees of the Karl Theodor Molinari Foundation and chairman of the ZInFü Circle of Friends.

Beck is married and has one daughter.
