Oliver Kohl
Oliver Martin Kohl (born June 6, 1964 in Hattingen ) is a major general in the Army of the German Armed Forces and has been in command of the Federal Armed Forces Command Academy in Hamburg since May 9, 2018 .
Military career
Training and first uses
Oliver Kohl joined the German Armed Forces in 1984 and completed his basic training with the 195 armored artillery battalion in Münster . From 1989 to 1992 he studied education at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg and was then platoon leader and battery chief of the 3rd battery of the 215 armored artillery battalion in Augustdorf until 1997 . He was then adjutant to the division commander of the 7th Panzer Division in Düsseldorf before completing general staff training at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg.
Service as a staff officer
After completing the general staff course, Kohl was deployed to the operational command in Potsdam and in the Federal Ministry of Defense in the command staff of the army in Bonn before he became battalion commander of the 325 armored artillery training battalion in Schwanewede and Munster . This was followed by two assignments as a department head for fundamental matters and as a personnel manager for general staff officers of the army in the personnel office of the Bundeswehr in Cologne .
From 2009 to 2012 the next troop command followed as lieutenant colonel and commander of the 100 artillery regiment in Mühlhausen , before he was involved in the formation of the army's training command in Leipzig as head of the deployment staff, after which he became chief of staff there . From 2013 to 2015 he was head of division in the command staff of the armed forces .
Service as a general
In January 2016, Colonel Kohl was appointed commander of the 41st Panzer Grenadier Brigade in Neubrandenburg . On this post he was also promoted to brigadier general. On April 10, 2018, he handed this command over to Colonel Andreas Durst . On May 9, 2018, he took over as the successor to Rear Admiral Carsten Stawitzki , in his new command as the commander of the Bundeswehr Leadership Academy. In this post he was promoted to major general in September 2018.
