Life
Betty J. Sullivan was born in Minneapolis in 1902 and studied chemistry there at the University of Minnesota . In 1922 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and subsequently began to work for the Russell-Miller Milling Company , where she became a senior chemist in 1927. In the academic year 1924/25 she was studying at the University of Paris and then, in addition to her professional activity, studied biochemistry at the University of Minnesota, where she worked in 1935 under Clyde Harold Bailey (1887–1968) with a thesis on the lipids of wheat - Keimlings PhD .
