Ludger Tewes

Ludger Tewes (born April 16, 1955 in Gladbeck ) is a German Romanist and historian . He is a private lecturer at the University of Potsdam .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1974, Tewes did military service in the armed forces . He studied history , philosophy, pedagogy, French and Romance languages ​​at the Ruhr University in Bochum , the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster, the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn and the Sorbonne University in Paris. In 1980 he obtained his Magister Artium , in 1982 he passed the state examination.

In 1985 he was the medievalist Ferdinand Seibt at the Faculty of History at the Ruhr University Bochum with a thesis on the official and deposit policy of the archbishops of Cologne in the late Middle Ages (1306-1463) for Dr. phil. PhD, where he was a research assistant from 1983. He also became a lecturer at the Faculty of History and the Faculty of Catholic Theology (Catholic Church History ).

Tewes was the holder of a habilitation grant from the Görres Society for the Care of Science. He completed his habilitation with Bernhard R. Kroener in Modern History (Habilitation thesis: The use of the sisters of the German Red Cross in the mobile medical service of the Wehrmacht 1939-1945 ) at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Potsdam . Since then he has been a private lecturer at the historical institute there. His research interests are military history , France , peace and conflict research , youth under National Socialism , modernization of society and humanitarianism.

Tewes is a member of the Association of Historians in Germany and the Görres Society. He works part-time as a church organist .
