Kilkerran House

Kilkerran House is a manor house near the Scottish village of Dailly in the Council Area South Ayrshire . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

Kilkerran House was first mentioned in 1691. It may be on the site of an older tower called the Barclanachan . The structure designed by James Smith was built around this time and forms the nucleus of the present mansion. In 1744, a fireplace designed by William Adam was added. James Gillespie Graham was entrusted with the substantial expansion in 1818 . At the same time, the front of the building was relocated to the south side. David Bryce designed the billiards room, set up in 1855.

The mansion is isolated around 3.5 northeast of Dailly, near the south bank of the Water of Girvan . The south-facing front of the three-story building is designed with a triangular gable . This part of the building emerges slightly. The sides of the building end in a semicircle. At the rear there are parallel wings that end with pavilions with slate roofs .
