The defense district command 75 was a defense area command of the Armed Forces with the seat of the bar in Chemnitz . The main task of the command was the territorial defense in its defense district.

history

Lineup

After reunification , the territorial structures known from West Germany were quickly created in the former military district III of the land forces of the National People's Army (see the structure of the territorial army around 1989 ). The defense district command 75 was to assume the Heeresstruktur V of the early 1990s as part of the Territorial Army deallocated and the commanders in the Military District VII assumed. Based on the civil administrative structure in West Germany, the defense district should roughly correspond to a (future) administrative district . When setting up, however, the layout of the new defense district was initially roughly based on the Karl-Marx-Stadt district known from the German Democratic Republic (for a short time also Chemnitz district ). The location of the Chemnitz staff was also corresponding . When administrative districts were set up in the state of Saxony , the defense district roughly corresponded to the administrative district of Chemnitz .

Change to the armed forces base

In 2001 the territorial army was disbanded. The military area commands and defense district commands were subordinated to the newly established armed forces base . The defense areas and defense districts were fundamentally reorganized and their number reduced. Defense district command 74 , which roughly encompasses the Leipzig administrative region , was dissolved on September 30, 1999, and its western part was incorporated into defense district 75. The Defense District Command 75 were subordinated to the "newly" established Defense District Command III . The subordinate defense district commands were dissolved and some of its tasks were transferred to the newly established district liaison commands.

resolution

The Defense District Command was decommissioned in late 2006. Some of his assignments were transferred to the newly established state command of Saxony and the subordinate district liaison commands.

Association badge

The Defense District Command did not have its own association badge due to its planning as a predominantly non-active unit . The few active soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the superior military area command .

As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff company " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire defense district command. The internal association badge showed figures with a connection to the region as a reference to the stationing area: the black and gold divided main shield with the applied green diamond wreath similar to the coat of arms of Saxony . The applied heart shield shows the Meissner lion as in the Chemnitz city arms , fir trees as in many arms in the Erzgebirgskreis and Vogtlandkreis , as well as the Schönburg red and white shield division as in the former city arms of the Chemnitzer Land district or as in the arms of the Zwickau district .
