The telecommunications command 1 was one of the telecommunications command of the Army of the Armed Forces . The seat of the staff was Münster . The telecommunications command was part of the corps troops of the 1st Corps .

assignments

The telecommunications command bundled the units of the telecommunications force at the corps level . The main task was the construction, operation and maintenance of the information technology of the corps command posts . Telecommunications technology enabled the commanding general and his staff to connect to their own corps troops , subordinate divisions , neighboring corps and higher-level command posts of the Northern Army Group . The main task of the Telecommunications Battalion 120 was electronic warfare .

Overall, the size of the telecommunications command with about 2200 soldiers in the war organization corresponded to about half a brigade of the field army .

structure

Around 1989 the telecommunications command was roughly divided into:

  • Internal association badge Staff / Headquarters Company Telecommunications Command 1, Münster
    • Internal association badgeTelecommunications Battalion 110, Coesfeld
    • Internal association badgeTelecommunications Battalion 120, Rotenburg (Wümme)

In peacetime the Front News Company  100 and the Fernspähkompanie 100 were also subordinate. Both companies were subordinate to the I. Corps in the event of a defense . The telecommunications battalion 120 or directly telecommunications command 1 were also subordinate to three telecommunications companies for electronic warfare in peacetime, which were subordinate to the 1st , 3rd and 7th Panzer Divisions in the event of a defense .

history

prehistory

From 1957 the position of the leading corps telecommunications officer in the staff department of the I. Corps was planned. From 1960 it was renamed Corps Fernmeldekommandeur 1, who had his seat in the Von-Eine barracks in Münster.

Lineup

The telecommunications command was set up on July 1, 1972 to take Army Structure III in the Von-Eine barracks in Münster. The staff and headquarters company of Corps Fernmeldekommandeur 1 was used for the establishment.

resolution

After the end of the Cold War , the telecommunications command was decommissioned in 1994 at around the same time as the 1st Corps was reclassified as the 1st German-Dutch Corps . Parts of the Telecommunications Battalion 110 were used to set up the Command Support Brigade 1 and the Command Support Brigade German-Dutch Corps .

Association badge

The telecommunications command did not have its own association badge due to its planning as part of the dependent corps troops . The soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the higher corps .

As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff company " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire telecommunications command. Essentially, as a reference to the stationing area, it showed the stylized gable of the old Münster City Hall in the Münster city colors . The federal eagle is the German heraldic animal and was also shown in the association badge of the I. Corps. The lightning bolt stands for the type of service and is similarly included in the beret badge of the telecommunications force.
