assignments

The Army Aviation Command bundled the helicopters of the Army Aviation Force at the corps level . The other units subordinate to the corps had no major units of the Army Aviation Troops around 1989 . Only the division troops of each subordinate division had a squadron with Alouette II liaison helicopters in Army Structure IV . To 1989, the disposal commander of Heeresflieger commands using helicopter compound Bo-105M and Alouette II, the transport helicopter LTH UH-1D and MTH CH-53G and anti-tank helicopters Bo-105P . The command supported the divisions and brigades of the corps with logistics and combined arms combat on the battlefield . There they were mainly used for reconnaissance and anti-tank purposes. The commander of the corps could also use the transport helicopter to the the defense case as a reserve imputed paratroopers of the airborne brigades to move quickly to focus . history

Army Aviation Command 1 was set up in Münster in 1971 to take over Army Structure III . Corps Army Aviation Commander 1 , who was also based in Münster from 1959 until the reclassification in 1971, was called in to set up the staff . In 1984 the staff moved from the Lützow barracks in Münster at the Münster-Handorf airfield to the Theodor-Blank barracks at the Rheine-Bentlage army airfield .

The Army Aviation Command was decommissioned after the end of the Cold War at the end of March 1994, around the same time as the 1st Corps was reclassified to the 1st German-Dutch Corps . Some of the troops previously subordinated to the Air Mechanized Brigade 1 later switched .

Association badge

The Army Aviation Command did not have its own association badge due to its planning as part of the dependent corps troops . The soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the higher corps .

As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff unit " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire Army Aviation Command . It showed a wing similar to the beret badge of the Army Aviation Troops , the federal eagle and the gable of the old Münster town hall .
