The defense district command 41 was a defense area command of the Armed Forces with the seat of the bar in Koblenz . The main task of the command was the territorial defense in its defense district.

history

Lineup

The defense district command was to assume the army structure II in the 1960s as part of the Territorial Army deallocated and the commander in Military District IV assumed. Based on the civil administrative structure , the defense district roughly corresponded to the administrative district of Koblenz . The location of the Koblenz staff was accordingly .

From October 1962 to the end of March 1967, Colonel Gerlach von Gaudecker was the commander of the Defense District Command.

In 2001 the territorial army was disbanded. The military area commands and defense district commands were subordinated to the newly established armed forces base . The defense areas and defense districts were fundamentally reorganized and their number reduced. Defense District Command 41 was decommissioned and its previous command area was incorporated into Defense District 42 .

Like most units of the Territorial Army, the Defense District Command consisted of only a few active soldiers. Only in the case of defense , the defense district command could by the convening of reserve and the mobilization stored and civilian material to a troop strength increase , which around 1989 as a brigade of the Army corresponded. For the longest time of its existence, the Defense District Command was subdivided into subordinate Defense District Commands, derived from the civil administrative structure . Association badge

Internal association badge of the staff / staff company

The Defense District Command did not have its own association badge due to its planning as a predominantly non-active unit . The few active soldiers therefore wore the association badge of the superior military area command .

As a "badge", the internal association badge of the staff and the staff company " pars pro toto " was sometimes used imprecisely for the entire defense district command. It was essentially a reference to the deployment of space as figures the Trier Cross as in numerous coats of arms in the region and a stylized map of the river courses of the Rhine , Mosel and Lahn , and two crossed swords symbolizing the army similar to the insignia of the shield and Mountain cap .
